Special issue MDPI journal – Energies

We are happy to inform our community about a new launch of a Special Issue of the MDPI journal, Energies, on “Digital Mockup and 3D Visualization Application in Energy Systems”.

Energy systems are becoming increasingly complex, whether in terms of design, operation, or maintenance, in order to provide end-users with the best energy performance while ensuring maximum reliability, safety, and sustainability. In addition to these constraints, an important issue relates to cost, which must be controlled both on the side of the energy system suppliers and on the side of owners–operators. To fulfill all of these constraints, digital tools, and in particular digital mockups and mixed reality technologies, represent a formidable asset, enabling control over the entire value chain of these systems. Digital tools represent an integral part of the energy transition. However, major issues still exist related to the availability and the representability of data, and the intuitiveness and efficiency of interfaces and interactions paradigms. Therefore, we invite contributions to this Special Issue of Energies on “Digital Mockup and 3D Visualization Application in Energy Systems”.

This Special Issue aims to publish the latest cutting-edge technological and scientific advances and challenges and new methodologies related to the use of digital tools at all stages of the life cycle of an energy system. In addition to the technical and technological aspects of digital tools, it also aims to bring to the fore how these technologies impact the designers and operators of these systems, in terms not only of benefits but also of research and technological perspectives on the improvement of digital technologies through human-centered intelligence. We invite original articles of very high scientific quality focused on but not limited to the following topics:

  • virtual design of energy systems
  • virtual maintenance of energy systems
  • digital twins of energy systems
  • virtual training and user performance
  • collaborative and concurrent engineering
  • user-and-context-adapted 3D visualization and analysis of complex data
  • adaptive mixed reality interaction
  • effects of immersive technologies (virtual, augmented, mixed reality) on users for the design, operation, and maintenance of energy systems
  • industrial use-cases of immersive technologies usage with CAD and PLM

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Deadline

Deadline for manuscript submissions: 15 August 2021.
