Via G. Previati 1/c, Lecco (Italy)
Lecco
The market of Lecco (made here at least since the 12th century but probably even before in the Carolingi era between the 8th and 11th centuries) was located in the square where the importance of the city was born and strengthened. In fact Lecco has its roots in the two market squares (Cermenati and XX Settembre) rather than in the Roman area or on the Santo Stefano hill, where in the 4th century was built a fortress with a church dedicated to the first Christian martyr, or in Castello where another fortress was built. The name Lecco, in fact, in the past indicated just an hamlet and the lake while on the hills of this beautiful basin there were towns whose fate was to be swallowed by the handful of houses around the market.
